Have You ever got your hopes up when you ask someone who works at the place
YOU want to work and the entry level person does not know if they are hiring
but will say that there "accepting applications"?
To me, this is acceptable when it comes to entry level people,,,,
but when it comes to managers, asst or otherwise who are supposed to be "in
the know"about these things, it can be VERY annoying!
WHen You have been job hunting as long as I have, you will know that
there is a BIG difference between "Now Hiring" and "Accepting Applications"
In case YOU don't let me explain:
NOW HIRING MEANS:
We have to fill this position ASAP!
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS:
1. we are not hiring right now and wont be for the rest of the year
2. we don't know when we will be hiring
3. there are no positions available right now
4. You are wasting your time filling out an application here!
5. I dont pay attention to these things because I have been gainfully employed
and I havent had to look for a job in over 20 years so I have no idea how it
feels to be jobless and hungry so FUCK YOU I have a job
HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAA!
Seriously People, I went to a store that had a "Accepting Applications" sign in their window but once I went inside to ask about it, they said that they weren't hiring!
WTF!!!
But believe it or not there are SOME GOOD PEOPLE out there who knows how it
feels to be unemployed and powerless, you can tell these people from the norm
because they actually TRY to help out your random blackguy job hunter. They
will tel you for sure if they are hiring or not, they
they tell you who to call, what positions, the best time to call, the managers
name, assisstant managers name, the corporate brainwashed store managers name
etc.
These people are FREAKING SAINTS to me!!!!!!
simply because they know how it
feels like to be job hunting in a shitty economy.
They probably had it worse than me.
(at least im a single bachelor who had to move back in with his parents
and have 0 dependents)
Everyones' story is different.
People have lost their home,sleep in their cars, go to a shelter or
have NO ROOF OVER THEIR HEAD WHATSOEVER!!!
I would never forget a scene I saw in a movie called "first time felon"
with omar epps as the main character. late in the movie he got out of
prison and went job hunting
he was looking for anything, even a janitor.
The camera cut to The caucasian female and then to her desk that had a piece
pf paper for a job making cinderblocks or whatever, she covered it up with
her hands and said that they had no openings.
I......WAS.....PISSED!!!!
My main beef is with the people who have no idea what its like to be without
a job and never had to job hunt and never had to starve and never bothered
to give somebody a hook-up every now and then. WHen I was 15-24, I never
lacked for a job because the economy was pretty strong at that time
(when you applied for a job back then, you expected to GET it!)
everything changed in 2007.
some rich guys treated wall street like las vegas, got rid of regulations
and sunk out economy like never before.
wealthy bastards.
people who have no idea how it feels like to go without played with our money.
and we are the ones who get fucked.
but i digress.
my point is this: if you have a job, be smart, know if they are hiring or
letting people go. please dont say "we are accepting applications" because
there is a big fucking difference when I was employed I pmade it a point to
know who to talk to to get someone a proverbial foot in the door
I would even tell you how to pass the assessment test, you know, those
dumbass "strongly agree or disagree" tests made by people who are severly
disconnected with reality
(hint: click on the answers they WANT TO SEE, and curb your common sense.)
so if you are still job hunting:
keep the faith
if you have a family to feed, try flipping burgers
(MC DOnalds wouldnt even hire me! i was over qualified! AINT THAT A BITCH!!!)
lie on your application (a little)
and if you DO have a job:
be on the lookout for someone who needs a foot in the door and help them
out as much as possible.
